New project in the future

Post by ianupton »

I finally got to pick up my O'Day Hunt 14.

Truly looks like a baby Bertram.

Plans will be to convert to an outboard, but I will probably not dig / cut into this one until next year. The Bertram 20 still needs some finishing up, but I will have her on the water next weekend.

Here are a few shots of the Hunt 14:

Putting some weight on the transom to see where she will sit with an outboard on the transom.

Enjoy!

Never saw one before. Can they be found? Great project.

John - They can be found, but they are pretty rare. Not quite as rare as a SeaCraft Scampi, but rare nonetheless.

Ask Rod (Rocket) how hard they are to find? He has been on the hunt for some time.

very exciting for you Ian. they are so hard to find that I may need to splash yours!

I have found a 16' Hunt designed Grampian , but it does not have the same bow flair and the dead rise at the transom is shallower, I bought it without seeing it in person, so we'll see if I choose to put the resources in to restoring it. I am still on the "hunt" for an Oday 14' or 16' in any condition.

Rod - Sorry that your Hunt designed 16 was not what you would have liked it to be.

If you are serious about making a mold, let me know. Hard to justify... I do know where a 16 Hunt mold is and someone that will pull a boat for you.

Ian, if you are looking for someone to regularly exercise your beautiful 20 while you are making this beauty perfect, just leave the keys in it and a full load of fuel!

Your buddy,

Tom
