Possible gas tank internal coating?

Post by IRGuy »

I often visit this site even though my Bert is a 33.. as do a lot of others who don't own 31's.. I just ran across this page on the POR-15 web site. Has anyone considered removing the top of their gas boat fuel tank and painting the interior with this stuff? From what I hear, these people have excellent products.

I considered it, but getting the top off would not be easy. I have used their products before. The Marine Clean is excellent.

Coating only works on steel

Great idea, but according to the company it only works on steel tanks.

I was going to first coat the tank with POR-15, which can go over fiberglass and then follow that with the tank sealer. I asked them the same question about the tank sealer. I think that they are worried about liability and don't want to go out on a limb recommending it for an application that they have not tested it for.
