Is the best way to store rods at the house vertical resting on the rod butt?
I don't like leaning against the wall on the rod tips or storing horizontal although on most boats, that is how they are stored.
2nd part, store with or without reels on?

How many rods, type, in house or shop?

I store mine on a rack that I have had for years vertical with butts down and they are supported half way up by a cross member. If the line is more than 2 years old strip it off the reels and thoroughly clean and spray them down with corrosion X. I keep mine in the corner of the garage away from anything that can fall or bump against them. Also If you have any type of power saw cover them with plastic bags to keep the saw dust off. Leaning them against the wall can put a set into the rods if left for a long period of time.
Maybe some else has a better way but that what do.

They are in the garage that has ac and heat.
Mixture of light tackle fresh water to heavy stand up rods, about 16 in all.

I think at this point all line is over two years old.

I got a 4 day weekend coming up on grand daughter watch. Seems like a good time to let them practice the finer points of stripping line off and spraying down reels.

I use the vertical rod holders that has the foam insert in the upper piece for the rods to push into. I don't think it is good to leave tension on the tips of the rods like leaning them in a corner. But then I mostly use spinning rods.

I know this was a rod question but I see it way too much, don't forget to loosen drags completely.
