Dash mounted electronics, How big is too big?

I'm setting up a very nice 28 Bertram for the summer. I am going to replace the Northstar 800 with a newer plotter. I have the opportunity to buy a used Northstar 962 but am concerned the unit will be so big as to block my vision. I would mount it to the right of the helm on the dash. Any input from those who have many hours on a 28.

The Unit measures about 13 inches tall.

Thank You
Jay

I mounted my c-120 on one of the pivot arms that West Marine sells. I have it mounted to the right of the throttles so it can swing in as close as my elbow or swing out to the corner of the windscreen. It's not the most elegant of solutions but it serves its purpose. In a good sea it moves around a little so I usually secure it to a parking spot I made on the drink holder.

I see what you mean about the height, that would be a concern.

I'm in the process of installing a Furuno 10 1/4" NavNet on my 28. It is wider than the 962 but not as tall. But it is large!

I'm going to look into that pivot arm. It sounds much more flexible than the standard mounting bracket.
