Shoot thru-hull transducer mount

Post by John F. »

Crows Nest has/had an Airmar 260 1kw shoot thru, mounted just forward of the water tank. The transducer "tank" thing was mounted with 5200. All the mineral oil had leaked out of the tank, and from what it says on the Airmar site, mineral oil degrades 5200 over time. I was able to easily pull the tank off the hull.

Any ideas as to the best way to remount the transducer tank? 5200 again and anti-freeze? Epoxy and use mineral oil? Also, the fishfinder seemed to work well, so I'm probably remounting the transducer in the same spot, unless there's a way better spot. Any input? Thanks.

I would clean the area up and use epoxy and mineral spirits, 5200 was invented by the same guy that invented the Carver and Bayliner, no respectable boat builder has this stuff in their shop
