Why do the worst things happen to the best people?

Well, I'm not much of a religious guy, but will certainly be saying a prayer for Dave every day. Be strong Dave, you can beat this.

Someone please let me know if it is out of order for me to share in this way, but my heart goes out to you, Dave, and these verses came to mind:

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are acheiving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corin. 4:16-18

I suppose all of us begin that process of "wasting away" afer around 25 or 30 years of age. Sadly, sickness and injury advance the process. Dave, my prayer is that the Lord would restore you to your full measure of good health, and that you and your family would be lifted up during these difficult times. I've enjoyed 'getting to know you' through this Board, and look forward to meeting you at future events. God bless you my friend.

Dave, my familles prayers are with you. Keep positive, a very good friend and fishing buddy was given 6 months last November with liver, pancreas and stomach cancer after 14 months of hard work and a positive attitude he is virtually cancer free...indeed miracles happen, just ask his bewildered doctor

Faithful,
What a truly genuine group of real human beings we have here. My wife Marsha and I thank you for you kind thoughts and prayers which are mighty powerful.
I have 4 more Chemo treatments to go begining next week. They are giving me a double whamy (two different kinds) lasting for 5 days via a meta port in my chest. My Doctor fears it may have also gone to the limp nodes. So they are trying to kill it all. It is taking a real toll on my body as I have developed a mouth infection from the Chemo sores. Fever today and back into see the Cancer doctors tommorrow and the cancer surgen to remove the stiches from my mataport. They want to try to heal my mouth so at least I can get soft food down otherwise they will have to put a feeding tube into my stomach. I'm just too sick most days to even turn on the computer. Amazing what we will edure to cling to life. But I'm going to beat this thing somehow with divine help only of course. Again thanks for your thoughts, prayers and kind words of encouragement.

SHIPMATE, hang in there and keep the faith. Sounds like your personal strength is putting up a great defense. Keep strong and stay focused and you will beat this. The good Lord takes care of special people like you and while we have never met, knowing you over the past 4 years in this sandbox, affirms to me your very unique character and passion for our great B31s. You have my daily prayers as you continue to fight this and I know I speak for ALL the FAITHFUL, you are in our thoughts each day. r/ Roland

Dave...

The last time I counted there were posts of prayers and strength being offered above from 36 Faithful Friends. Three dozen hearts and minds sending you their best has got to be a force to be reckoned with! Know that you have many friends here who you haven't met yet, and take from us all the knowledge that we are rooting for you! With at least 36 of us out here at least one of us has to be thinking about you every moment of the day. Be strong, and know you may be there with your family, but we are with you too!

God bless...

Frank

Capt. Dave,

I've never met you and know nothing of the life you live. By being a member of this site I understand we have at least one thing in common, these little holes in water we call boats.
Having watched my wife pull through and win the fight against cancer I know the toll it can take on both the individual and the family. I wish you God's Speed in your recovery.
Rest and recover.........

Faithful,
I go in for round two of my Chemo treatments tomorrow Friday Feb 2.
The Chemo injection via my chest metaport will last for 5 days. One day with a regular (C something I can't spell) and then they put a portable pump on me and alow the FU5(stong nasty stuff) to meter slowly for 5 days via my chest metaport. I know I'm going to win this battle, Lord willing. My boat yearns for my regular TLC. God Blesss you guys and I'll keep you informed. Dave K
