I believe that 'The Detroit guy' is 'English Pete'. But I think that he only comes out for big jobs. What are you talking about?

what's the boat ? ... I've been in and around Sag Harbor my entire life

Steve: It is a 1999 39 foot Tiffany with a single 6-71TID 185 HP called "One Day". It was docked in Montauk until last week though. It was custom built in Glebe Point, VA about 10 miles from my house and a friend down in Reedville is looking at it as a charter boat. I knew I could get a good reference from this site up there!
