I have older carbed Crusader 454s - no enclosure and no AC so I'm guessing I'm lighter and maybe easier driven but aI also know I am underpropped. I have planned on 1 nm/gal and think I've gotten that running 2,800-3,000 rpm and around 22 kts. Mostly calm seas and just droning straight ahead.
Congratulations!
Best,
Stephan

Good luck on the trip. Most of the marinas around Wilmington have non-ethanol gas. Once you swing through Snow's Cut and head up the ICW aways you'll encouter the Wrightsville bridge. There are 2 or 3 places to fuel up there - non-ethanol. Probably wil not be an issue for you as those big blocks be burning fuel much faster than the ethanol can absorb water!!! Stock up on fuel filters before heading out! Enjoy the ride!

check that. I just saw that the boat is north of Wilmington already. Harbor Village marina is just north of Figure Eight island and they have the non-ethanol gas there.

I was hoping to burn about that much an hour we will see.
I'm going to run a 200 gallon bladder tank on the way home just to be on the safe $$$$ side

Tom

Good luck on the run. Not so sure the ride is going to be smooth. Calling for Southwest winds and blowing. Crossing the mouth of the Chesapeak and the Delaware is going to nasty. I don't think it is looking that much better on Sunday.

I would put the fuel burn between 22 and 25 gallons an hour. That is as long as she is propped right. If the wind stays SW, hug the coast as much as possible. Will give you a smoother ride, but will add distance to the trip.

Stay safe.

Remember, if it gets bad duck in and tie her up and go get her next week. After all, you are just learning about the boat and you are not familiar with all the systems and what type of care she has had.

Make sure you let us know how you make out.

.88-.92 nmpg is what Shambala burns at 2850 rpms (a 20-22 knot cruise depending on conditions).

Good luck with your ride home.
