Lets talk Heads
Ok looks like the old Groco electric head may have given up the ghost. I am debating converting it back to manual or install a new head.
I know Bob Lilco prefers Sea Land, but what others have the faithfull used that fits in the space the Groco took up?

Re: Lets talk Heads
Tony,
I installed a Galley Maid electric head back in 1997, simple set up, 3/4" inlet for salt water into bowl, macerator pump with stainless steel blades to chop up stuff, 3/4" outlet to holding tank or Y valve overboard. This thing has a china bowl simple plumbing 3/4" in 3/4" out, push button electric flush( 2 wires) easy to unclog if it gets clogged up. Galley Maid is manufactured in Rivereira Beach, Florida, (West Palm Beach), The macerator pump will chop up herring for chumming also, I never had it clog in 10 years, replacable cutting blades, easy install. I can't remember how much it cost, but it is a simple, dependable unit, has a plastic trim band that fits under the bowl and hides all the plumbing hoses and fits where the old my old Groco was, I reused the push button from my 1961 original unit.

Re: Lets talk Heads
Tony,
I forgot to mention that my boat is an express(1961) with a enclosed stand-up head. Just add new white sanitation hoses, new clamps and reuse the rest of the stuff from old Groco(Push button, Y valve, holding tank and discharge lines).

Re: Lets talk Heads
Tony that a Jabsco electric exactly like a home toilet all porcelain with four choices of operation. I did some technical electrical work on a big luxury floating palace I told the owner I just wanted a head, so money no object I purchase this self contained toilet with it's own fresh water pump, one way valve, mercerator and every you need. Effluent goes to holding tank as liquid (what kind of trouble free do you not understand!!!!)total access to all parts from rear of toilet.real height not sit on the floor on tiny seat. No other choice this is the deal.

Pete,
Love to see some pix. Since you and I share the same express enclosed head you could save me from re-inventing the wheel or head.
Thanks

Thank You
I will take a look at both the Jabsco and Galley Maid. That is helpfull.
I want to keep it simple and reliable. Sounds like boht of them do just that.

Re: Lets talk Heads
Mikey,
I will try to get out to the boat this weekend to take some head pictures, need anything else photographed, my boat is about as original as it gets.

Re: Lets talk Heads
Pete,
You probably have seen enough pix of Dreamsicle to know that she is not original except the head. Didn't really think that through or I'd probably have gone with the PortaPotty in the forward area and eliminated the big wasted space. One sink is all a day boat needs and a curtain around the deed doer should suffice. However since I didn't do that and have the original compartment I am trying to fit something on that small floor ledge without major reconstruction. Anyway those should do. If I need anything else in the future
"I got your number."
Thanks
