Faithful,
300K for rice burners that weigh 1600 pounds on the transom, I don't think so. Our boats ride bow high enough, running angle seems high, trim/tilt cylinders will be taking a powder within a year.
Not my idea of spending 48K, must have cost a small fortune just to beef up the transom. I can see puting outboards on a converted center console 31 Bert but FBC no way.
Just my 2 cents worth.

There is a whole lot of ebay high dollar fishing going on right now. That is the great part of America though, they can ask whatever they want but getting it is another question.

$300k Bertram 31 OB
$19k Spring Fever Bertram 31
$700 bow chock
$500 bow chock

One reason I'm trying to get away with a single 300 on my 25.

This boat was on yachtworld for a long time now. There was a boating mag article about the boat some time ago. It is ridiculous to think he's asking 100k over similarly refit diesel boats. When those boats are selling for 60% of what they list at. If that boat ever sells it will be a 5 figure number.

and IF you were gonna go the outboard route .. and thats a big IF, a Bahia would have been a better vessel.

Peter-

I'm not arguing about the price of the B31 w/O/Bs, or looking for any argument for that matter. If B31s on YW are selling for 60% of list, then I'd be buying soon. There are some nicely done B31 diesels listed in the $100K range--the 60% off would put them at a sold price of $40K. Boats have come down in price, but not that much. If I'm wrong, please, please let me know. I'd love to get back in the game.

Not 60% OFF but 60% OF... Putting a 100k asking at around 60K selling. I'd spread the discount a bit and say more like 60% - 70%...

My bad on the 60/40 thing. I just looked at YW, and there are a few boats I wouldn't be interested at 60% of ask. There are a few that I'd get serious in hurry if I thought I could get the boat at 60% of ask...none of them are O/B powered, that's for sure......

John,

No science just my observation, some boats are priced more realistically then others. And as Capt Pat said 60-70% OF not OFF. So a boat listed at 200k selling for 135k may be realistic.

If you are seriously looking to get back in I'd pull a listing off yachtworld(print it), I'd say approximately half of the 31s for sale were on the market when I bought my boat. Some are still listed for the same price and others have been reduced significantly.

A few boats come to mind the Express that was redone by L&H looks complete on the refit but with 454s 30k and an FBC in Freeport NY 67k with 260 Yanmars and 80k for a FBC in Nantucket 315 yanmars pretty much done.
