A while ago there was some talk here about a new outboard mfg announcing a 550+ HP outboard... listing at around $75,000 each.

I found this on THT.. Anyone want to repower a B31?

At $75,000 apiece, a completely different weight distribution, need for greater fuel capacity and a shorter lifespan, why would anyone even consider it?

Not to mention that when you hang 1,600 HP on the transom of any boat, the boat has to be designed around the engines .. not the other way around.

I suspect the owner got a deal and didn't really pay list price on the engines.. these are so new I am sure Seven Marine would jump over backwards to get this type of publicity.. wait a few monhs and see how the boating press reports the boat's performance.

And I thought my B33 weighing about 23,000 lbs was a fuel burner at 1 gal/mile with Cummins 6Bs.

I just saw a video on Facebook of a 38 fountain with twin 557s. Not sure how they compare with triple 350s but assume the boats designed for trips might not be a big stretch.

These probably go along with Harry's transmission in the other post. Like everyone says why.
