Engine hatch experiment deleted

Post by Kevin »

Pat,

I will be taking your advice with the plywood hatch experiment. It will be easy since I never put hinges on my stock hatches to begin with. I am guessing 3/4 in ply will do the trick with out even adding supports.

Kevin,

Sorry that you original post was amongst the collateral damage of the site move!

For your experiment, just screw the plywood down tight, including the center fill in, and give it a try. You shouldn't need any more below deck supports at all. As a mater of fact, even 1/2" BC plywood should be all that's needed for experimention.

If it works, then you can decide on what final materials to use for the end product. I'd suggest 3/4" H80 Divinycel epoxied down then covered and trimed with 1/16" FRP from a big box store. Call me any time: 325 248 0809 for consultation.

Br,

Patrick
