Was not willing to ass ume they were for a 31.
Talk about 100lbs of crap in a 5 lb bag.

Good engines though in the right application.

I had a pair of 6-71Ns - straight 6s - once. Think they were about 225 hp and ran real good. Changed their own oil too.

We have a 36 haterass sport fisherman here with 6-71 putting out 450 hp .when they were built the shop used "tubby" that's the slang word for GE bathtub sealant. Been about three years and they are pretty good on oil use .In regards to oil leaks at least the owner is happy .boat runs 27 knt. Wot with a heavy boat .yea old technology but reliable.

Ran a pair of 6 71Ns for 20 years in a 43 Egg. They ran perfect. Noisey, and she was no speed wagon. Couldn't bruise or dent, let alone kill em.
Just run em like your'e mad at them and they do fine.
Got commercial guys around here with 15K hours on them with 506 Twin Disc clutches fishing pots all day. I have a photograph of one in my house with an oil drip on the floor
