Tony,
Nice job on the redo, what was the final amount of dollars invested into that boat? If it's what the owner wanted that's all that matters. I'm guessing around 325K six years ago. Did you find after 36 miles an hour the hull is starting to outrun her bottom and starts to pull to port?. It's always nice to see one of the original hulls tastefully redone and someone is enjoying the boat.

Key words-"when you can hold on".

FACT; 31 bertram fbc with essential weight shifted to stern and lowest center of gravity possible with perfect weight distribution port to starboard will rise on strakes from outer to inner as perfect attitude accelerates at 38 will ride on inner most strakes and vee in 2to 4' waves. and hold perfectly straight if you take a axe to the bottom of the boat and instead of making U SHAPE pocket with 6 blade props within pocket (with full knowledge you destroyed the most important storage on the boat)and go ahead and make a inverted "C" . then remove shooter off transom and rename " JUST SLIDING AWAY"

Can you please explain that again?

What Bob is saying is that adding prop pockets destroys the design of the deep V, so that it become ineffective at some point.

You need to remember, that Bob pretty much accomplished the same thing without Prop Pockets. Lowered the height of the engine to change the shaft angle. So he in effect has a more effeicient hull. Reduce the angle, pick up speed and fuel economy.

Try reading it again... Makes perfect sense...

lets see two hundred and fifty more horsepower, just about half the fuel economy and severe chine walking at speeds over 30 because installing the "c" shape pockets destroyed the three point stance of the 24degree deadrise and strake bottom. let alone about $200,000 more to build for two knots more at wot. pockets are totally useless on the hunt design bottom .all the performance accomplish with the reduction of shaft angle is more then nolified by the agitated water in the pocket. bare minimum would be custom 6 blade props at 110 percent . at least 7000.00 to built yes the boat would be faster with less horsepower but still all over the place at high speed.a pocket can be used on a much wider beam but pocket is a "U" shape retaining most of the vee bottom. look at hunt design grand banks with pockets and 5 blade props BUT design for 18knts max.

Thank you.....That is a better description for me.

Sounds cool and if the guy is happy why would we pee on his project. Boat looks good and it sounds like it runs great, I'm glad he enjoys it.
