These seem to be common down in FL but not so much up in the NE. Any idea of any place they can be bought off the shelf?
I've seen a few that have a slot on top to allow a fly rod or small spinning combo but also have a pin for gimbled rods.

Try Billy Martin - Marine Structures in Niantic, CT 860-739-2354. Master craftsman and metal fabricator -- he made me a bunch of fun stuff out of aluminum on my boats.

Taco marine has some small slotted aluminum bolders in racks. You should find them easy with a google search
