New Jersey Striped Bass Fishing

Hey guys -- can any of you New Jersey sharpies recommend something for my office grab bag. Of all people, I got the VP I report to for our secret santa grab bag. He fishes out of Atlantic City on a mid 20s center console and just showed me a 36 inch linesider he caught on Friday.

I'd like to get whatever you guys think is the goto lure for stripers down there, so please let me know what your thoughts are. We have a $30 limit, so keep that in mind -- and no, I'm not giving up any of my Stan Gibbs plugs that are in their original boxes!

Thanks,

Tom

Tom-I'm not from down there and would defer to any of our guys from NJ, but I would think a Large (long) Surgical Tube Eel, or a Bunker Spoon (or two) would always be welcome and fall into that price range. Or a personalized Captain's Cookbook.

Walter-

Stretch 25 is a big swimming plug that goes to 25' when trolled.

Tom-

When I've fished the Del/Jersey rips, we've done well with live eels. Get him some live eels. But I'd get them now because they may be harder to find later in December. I'd wrap them now to get that out of the way. Just imagine his face when he unwraps that gift--priceless.

Your fren'

John

Tony Maja bunker spoons are all the rage down here. I think because he knows how to promote his stuff. I have never used them but I told they move through the water with wide sweeps, rather than that pulsating motion.

In the middle of December I switch to bucktails with a green twister.
The Stretch 25 comes with a very large lip, you need a stout rod, because the downward pressure is great.

I love to troll but the bites been red hot on the jig and until recently a little blue fishy on the troll.

At 4.00 a piece you can buy him a bunch.
