Too bad the new boats don't seem to hold a candle to the ol' 31's. No first hand experience thou...

The first 38's were built on a scaled up 31 hull. They were real Battlewagons. I suspect whatever happened between Bertram/Hunt/Napier revolved around the extension of that original hull design. With today's Diesel engines, that 38 would have been faster and more economical to run. It sure ran like a tank through anything and was a luxurious boat.

Check that again is that Capt. Patrick at the 2:19 mark in Jack Ryan's video? Defiantely his air intakes on that boat no?
