Doing the right thing

Post by Brewster Minton »

Father and son book me for two days fishing. One day shark and one day canyon. We left this morning to shark fish. 16 miles off I stop and start chumming. Left both engines running. 1 1/2 hours in the alarm goes off. I shut down the port engine. Oil is in bildge. I tell the guys who flew in from St. Louis we need to head in. I call my freind Mark who is leaving to go to the canyon overnight. He come and meets me 12 miles off and takes them with him to the canyon overnight. Mark is the man for helping these guys out and me. Leak was the oil hose fitting from turbo to oil cooler. Fitting cracked. Hope they catch some fish.

Brewster..

Knowing the kind of guy you are (from your offer a couple of years ago to help one of my friends do the Shinnecock Inlet) I am not surprised your friend helped you out. What goes around comes around! I am sure you would have done the same thing for him, and I suspect he knows it.

I am blessed with freinds like you guys. Also, its about fishing and making sure your charters catch fish. Its not for the money. Its about their memories. If they get fish they tell stories for the rest of their lives. I would be happy if some grandkid tells his buddies, my grandfather went fishing on a 31 Bertram with this guy named Capt.Brewster and they crushed the tuna till their arms fell off. Thats all I want. To live on in stories.

Brewster -- what a first class guy you are in every measure! BTW -- if you need to replace the coolers -- call Lenco -- they did an awesome job when I replaced mine -- and very reasonably priced!

How good is that!

I think you can be content in knowing that you will be included in the story from that trip as follows:

"We went out on a B31 that ran into some mechanical problems. Just as the disapointment set in, capt. Brewster was able to help us arrange fishing on another boat and we got a stack of fish!"

Good stuff.
