Post by TailhookTom »

This is some cow -- eclipses my personal best by 30lbs! Great story (cause the author is my nephew).

Tom,
Congradulations on the fish, the angler and the captain should be proud of that accomplishment, he must be a good guy wearing that Red Sox tee shirt
Back in the early 1980's a large striper was caught in a commerical trap net off of Tinker's Island on the ocean side of Marblehead, I know it was over a 100 pounds (maybe around 118, sticks in my feable mind). The record was 78 pounds on rod and reel off the beach, I think it was in New Jersey.
Anyway a great catch and I hope it holds up as a world record fish.

Just to clarify -- not me, not my fish -- and I wouldn't be caught dead in a Red Sox shirt -- not this Yankee fan. Even after this weekend too.

But the real reason for this posting is that my nephew was requested, as was all local media, to stop writing about this fish as the man does not want to pursue a record and is "having panic attacks" over the publicity.

So, want to start a pool that the fish was gilnetted, longlined, or livebaited with an illegal bait?

I don't get the issue with world record stripper. They ran the current holder out of town and now this guy is afraid. Either, the fish is no where near 81lbs, or there is something else wrong.

Go figure.
