I got to drive my first excavator last night. I think it was a mid sized machine, made by Volvo. A good friend of mine (lifelong, actually!) is a dealer, and had some wood from the tornado on his land. He offered it to me, and I took him up on the offer. There is no other way to log, let me tell you!

I drove down with the pickup and the trailer, and left full of wood. But the loading, and playing was just awesome!!!!

I have to get me one of those things... Picked up 8-10 foot logs like toothpicks, and he dropped them in the bed of the truck with the precision of the blue angels. Yes, it takes practice. I am willing!!!

It was a blast! Do it if you ever can!!!

Lots of fun indeed.

I ran a 60 ton American crawler crane in my youth. We had an old VW in the yard that I had pulled the engine out of. Of course I had to run over it with the tracks on the crane :-)

Left it flat as a pancake! The crane barely knew the VW was there. The crushing and smashing noises were great.
