Post by Michael »

As I am not at boat right now, does anyone know the alternator output of the standard alternators on Cummins 250hp?
Thanks

For the standard engine altenator(not some Balmar or other high output) its rating comes at spinning the unit at about 5500 rpm.

Now look at the speed at which the standard diesel turns and do the pulley size math and just realize how slow they really turn even at cruise rpm and you'll realize you'd be lucky to get half that rating.
