I subscribe to a magazine called Family Handyman. It gives me many off the wall ideas and great info.

This month there was an article about a product called Kerdi-Board made by a company named Schluter. It is an extruded foam covered with a reiforcement layer and then cladding. Whatever that means. But in short I guess you can build your shower and not have to cover it with backer board. Cool stuff. I am thinking maybe another product for interior boat building?

Looks like good stuff. Do you know what the cost is compared to Coosa? I wonder if it will stand up to the chemicals in epoxy resins used with fiberglass? Also, the Coosa is very rigid and I'm wondering if this material as rigid for use in structural applications?

So it's not at all comparable to Coosa Board...

Epoxy would be fine, polyester/vinylester, or any other styrene based chemicals would melt it down. Available width is only 39 1/2" (1 meter) and primary use is as a waterproofing barrier for showers and must be covered with tile or other hard finish material.

As an extruded foam, it's more comparable to Divinycell, (extrudied PVC), but about the same cost, (or possibly more expensive). As a polystyrene, it's a poor choice as a boatbuilding material.

I kind of thought it might have limitations in boating. Cool stuff however!
