McMaster-Carr - Plain FRP or Premium FRP?

Unless I'm told its not a good idea, I'm going to order 5' of FRP "L" (1/4" thick legs?) from McMaster-Carr to put on the inside of my B20 Console so I can attach it to the floor. They list plain FRP (polyester) and premium FRP (vinylester?). Should I use this stuff and if so, which should I get? Thanks.

John, I used both L and I Polyester FRP beams from McNichols Company..they worked great as deck supports and angle brackets..very strong, cuts with chop saw, sand prime and paint..only drawback from McNichols was the twenty foot lengths..great stuff...BH

Plain polyester is fine... No need to vinylester.

Make sure you go thick enough if they are going ot support any weight. You would be suprised how much 1/4 inch flex's. I used it in my companionway to support the deck. I think I used 3/8's but would have to check. I can do it this weekend when I go down to the boat if you want.

Tony-

Thanks, but I'm just using it as an "L" bracket to bolt the console to the deck. Kinda' like what Bob talked about. It seems like a good material to use for that.
