Twin Disc MG 502

Post by JP Dalik »

Anyone got a clue what these might be worth. 1.54:1 ratio. Got a pair that may have to go.

Those gears would make a real nice addition to a gas boat. It would require a bit of engine relocation but worth it in my opinion. The engines would just about sit level and around 10" further aft, both good ideas... if the boxes will allow it without major work? I "believe" the standard shafts are far enough into the hull for oil pan clearence?...DUN-No, but worth looking into.

Any gas boats out there pullin' engines this winter...here's your chance for a nice gear upgrade!

twin disc 502's

I have the 502's behind the Cummins 250's I just bought. I think that's good fit for them. I was told when I bought the pair that the gears were worth about 2k ea.

JP,

Just a point of reference, I paid $1,500 for my 5010A 1.9:1...new surplus. The list price on that gear (6 years ago) was around $2,800. The MG502 and the MG5010A are "basically" the same size & rating TD gears. The 5010A being the newer model.

$1,000 - $1,200 each for used TD gears of this size would be good guess.
