What is it?

Behaves like Divinicell but with bigger cells, and pink...

oh yeah, they're all pink on the inside.

Would have been layed up in the late 70's.
Klegecell?

Buju,
Looks like 30 pound refridgerator foam, used to use it around fish boxes and coolers in the Jupiter 31's back in the late 1980's to 1998. Will absorb water like a sponge if the skin caot is breached and it has little to no structural strength. Looks like 2 part pour foam 2 pound density below the deck level, what is it in a Sea Craft or a Wellcraft?

Pete,
Yep, that is 2part 2lb density pu foam underneath...

Don't think the pink core is your fridge foam though. Very stiff and strong laminate, lightweight too... cut the deck out in one 5'x8' piece. Doesn't flex, and I'm able to lift it in & out of the boat on my own.
Also very resistant to water absorbtion. Had a few old fastener holes in the deck that weren't fully patched and holding water for years. The water didn't make it more than 1/8" into the core from the holes.
Seems like good stuff to me.

Boat is my little Sidewinder custom flatsboat, deck built by Chris Moorjohn down here in Islamorada. Just got done cutting her head off to jerk the fuel tank out. Good fun and whatnot.

Roger that Whaler, runs like a scalded dog too. But at this point I'd be willing to trade it for a new fuel tank, a new trailer, some new controls, and a good chunk of burmese teak... maybe a few bottles of Añejo for good measure.

Pat, if I'd known you were gonna swap out my avatar I'd have done better than that one... but could've been worse too.

Any other thoughts on that core material?

Mark,

I can switch it back if you like.

I've never seen red foam either...
