Oil burn

Good morning,
this past weekend did some canoe escorting. Took the boat to my home marina all ran fine, the next day loaded up with 12 handicapped individuals and the port motor started burning oil at 1 quart every two hours.there was a sheen in my exhaust and residue on the transom.

So my question is are my valve seals going or gone,or what else could it be.When i dropped them off and ran back to the marina all was fine.

Aloha

I love it when experience gives me the ability to answer a question! Its like a full circle!

My friend, you have a pin hole in one of your oil coolers. Change it out now before you have a bigger hole.

Oil sheen in the exhaust is a given that there is where the problem lies.

Per my experience anyway. Good news is it is not a bank breaking repair, and you can do it yourself.

The only problem with people helping people on this site is every time I read a string like this it gives me one more thing to worry about!

You may also want to change your engine oil/filter. I figured that if oil could get out, water may be able to get in. Just a thought.
