5 for 6 on yellowfin to 50lbs and a handful of mahi to 10lbs. Here's the boat that did the damage and the kids that killed the fish.

With such a beautiful boat and two good looking boys I am envious of you!
I have only one daughter but she has presented us with a grandson, so I at least have someone to spend some quality time with in my shop or working on the boat. With a project B33 FBC under renovation I can only admire your boat and hope one day to have mine look half as nice as yours.
The tuna are a bonus!

neil do try to teach the boys how to handle the straight gaff at this age?the boys have the best teachers for what lures to use in every situation but the wire men and gaff/ tail rope proves to be very hard to master especially when the species get large. i am just looking for your inside information because my grand children will becoming of age and i don`t want to " push it". youth is a definite factor hanging off the transom with tag stick or gaff. lower back can`t take iy anymore.

Bob,
Teach them how to be good anglers and they will learn where they need to be as gaff and wire men. These kids already know to pull the drags back when the leader man grabs in, they know to keep the gunnel on their outboard leg and be prepared for the leaderman to dump and have the fish run when fishing stand up. With smaller fish they have already come behind the leader man to gaff and are taught to aim small and aim for the head. Both these junior anglers are no joke. We practice in the chair at 35lbs of drag in a bucket harness, both kids are good to about 25 lbs real world strapped in.
They have to de rig the baits at the end of the day so they can learn how to rig them in the future, soon they will learn pin rigs then pinless and circle hook. They will white marlin fish this year and continue to perfect their bluefin skills.
From this point its teaching them boat position/ keeping the opposite engine in gear when the fish are boat side and then backing and spinning as the final exam. Its a process but this is my future crew and they have no choice but to be perfect- that's my requirement.
Teach them well and they will learn, most importantly keep it fun. Thanks to all for the kind words its a nice start to the season.

And that my friend is the GREATEST blessing that a man can have! ! !
JP,
I am pretty sure that teaching your children extends far beyond "Fishing"....
From experience I can tell you that Little JP and Little Mrs JP are gonna grow up to make you very very proud.......you are setting the stage for that RIGHT NOW! ! ! !
