Russ,

Anything you want to know about Lewmar can be answered by a good friend of mine. He will give you the straight dope.

bill@newenglandbowthruster.com

He installs them and will tell you what problems you might encounter, etc.

His cell is: (860) 625-1368

Interestingly, he installed a thruster in a B31 in the Gloucester area last year. Used my boat to template. We go back 25 years and he has always been a good friend.

Bob Lico ran into him while doing some installs out on Long Island, so he can speak to his capability as well.

I have the lewmar 1000 on my boat. The first one died in about 6 months. I was able to get it replaced by West Marine, Port supply Sales rep. The second one has worked great for over a year. I like to free fall feature and it is easy to use. Here is socal we might re anchor on the Island 20 times in one day.

Dug - are you serious that someone actually installed a thruster in a B31? Why? In a boat anyone can spin on a dime, back down straight, move side to side with impunity? A thruster?

Must be George Bush's fault......

On another subject, me & the Bride hosted our son Capt. Brent, his wife Joey, our daughter Jen and her husband Chcuk to a bash in New Orleans yesterday for Capt. Brent's 40th birthday. Us boys ate lunch at the Bon Ton (turtle soup, pan broiled oysters, crabmeat au gratin, bread pudding with whiskey sauce), then walked a few blocks to the slaughterhouse (casino) where we paid our Tax On Stupidity....the girls shopped, then we all had dinner at Irene's in the French Quarter, maybe the finest restaurant in the US...that very few folks ever heard of....St. Phillip St.....escargot in mushrooms, pompano suate' with crabmeat, etc.....and after dinner drinks at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop on Bourbon St., one of the oldest buildings in the city. Lotta laughs, nice to have good kids.....it was a pretty quiet group around the breakfast table at the hotel this morning tho.

Vic, sounds like amazing eats!

Yes, someone did. Sometimes there is more money than...ok, I won't say it. Bill did what he was paid to do. He did not judge, nor did he comment. Those are all my thoughts.

Reality is that the boat is for sale as well. Cool, huh?

I bet it is a heck of a boat!

Hope you are well my friend!

Dug,

All the rationalizing in the world doesn't dim the fact that anyone who would put a thruster on a 31 is a complete and utter ****ing moron.

There, I said it. Everyone that wanted to, I'll take the heat.
