Here's a pile of images of the B164-20 that I just installed in Hancock's B31. It's installed just inside the cabin bilge, aft of the stock water tank & to the starboard side of the centerline. I made up a 4º external wedge to compensate for the B31 dead rise and the 20º preset of the transducer.

The final fairing was done with the transducer in place so that there is a slight pocket for it to sit into.

Nice job Capt Pat, through hull transducers work better than mounting inside hull in box? Love the wrench you made up for tightening the big nut, another "so thats how you do it"....do you also shim the transducer front to rear? To compensate for running angle? or more a side to side shim? BH

No real need to trim fore to aft since angle is basically only critical at trolling speeds... I tend to prefer the through hull designs for maximum signal strength, but they do require more maintenance to keep 'em clean.

I fair further forward for a smoother sweep of the water passing over the transducer face.

Seems like I'm forever building quick "get by" tools. When I was in WPB I usually just ran to a store and bought something. In Bumf*ck, Egypt it's quicker to roll your own than drive 20 miles round trip to town, or wait a week for an online order to arrive.
