Crusader 8.1l gear question-

Post by Tangier »

I'm sure someone has repowered their B31 w. this engine- If so, what size gear? Have you been happy.
One consideration is Striper fishing and would prefer not to put a trolling valve on-

Thanks,
In the middle of a rebuild...

What engines are in the boat at this time. If they are 454s there should not be a prob w/ the current trans.
I have found that life can be short. Hope I am not late?

Actually there is a problem as the new motors don't have an opposite rotation option. A number of the B33 guys have gone this route & were very pleased with the results.

I can't remember what tranny ratio they used but they did have to upgrade shafts to 1 1/2". One guy ended up going with some thing that is supposedly stronger than the Aquamet shafts. His cruise is now almost what my WOT is.

Al,

Your thinking of Tim. He didn't increase the shaft size, he kept his inch and 3/8's shafts but went with a material called temet. Most of the guys are using a 2:1 ratio.
