New oil not good for old engines

So I can't just tell my supplier to just send me a couple cases of 40W when I do an oil change...
Life is getting more difficult.

Been discussed in detail on the Porsche boards - look at the Brad Penn oil - it's the old "green oil" from the kendell days.

Did you guys ever think about how long that damn oil been sitting in the ground before it was pumped out? It didn't spoil then and ain't gonna now. I call bullshit on that one.

Motor oil is all about the additive packages. If you want an interesting education check out

This topic has been talked to death on the various automotive sites. For gassers, any brand of CI-4 or CJ-4 will work just fine to provide adequate "zinc" protection to the rubbing parts.

Well, since I don't go to automotive forums I was unaware of any of this. I always thought that if I used the latest API classification it was backward compatible. I posted the link because I thought others might also not be aware of this. White Bear, Thank You for giving me the info that I could use the diesel rated oils for my old 454s.

and you can add some EOS GM assembly lube if you are not certain.
