4200 to 4400 for those Mopar marinized Ford 460 engines.

yep, thats them mopar marinized fords, what a combo. Ya thats what i was thinking. I just wasn't sure, I called the Chrysler dealer here and they didnt know, go figure. So, if i am only geting 3500(assuming my tachs are right) or or so i am probably over propped?? right? 1.5-1 with 17x19 props,
Thanks Bruce, sorry to hear some asshole rug heads jacked you around.

The thing about gas is while I do find them over propped from time to time, gas engines need much more maintenance and upkeep than diesel and I've found most of my rpm loss on gasssers to be fuel or ignition related followed by wearing out.

Without knowing the boat they are in and the weight, I can't figure the prop size out.

My gasser B31 w/454s has 17x15 4-blades w/5 cup (as far as I know) and had a set of 18x18 3-blades. When I first got her, I could get 4200-4300 rpms. Now, neither motor will run above 4000, and one won't get over 3850. I went over everything, and had a mechanic check them out. His verdict--they are basically wearing out--compression was down a bit on all cylinders, and a bit more on a couple. They still sound great and run great, though, and I keep them at 2800 cruise and below. Sooo, from my experience, if everything else checks out, they may just be getting tired.

They very well maybe tired, hell i guess they are almost 20yrs old, previous owner guessed a 1000hrs. In my head, my '88 chevy isnt that old, but in reality its a classic now.
its a 31 FBC 1969 model, i had full of fuel and 3 people, i think the boat weighs dry, bought 10000. I forgot exactly what the yard told me when they picked it up, but it was not alot. I dont know, I need to giver her a tune up, but she does like 31-32 knots, cant really complain.

Compression is Ok, little low on a couple
