Center of Balance
Aloha,
Does any of the faithful know the location of the fore and aft balance point for the B31 FBC I am redoing a 36 ft aluminun trailer and wish to move the axle location to balance the trailer for the proper tongue weight.
Thanks for the help.
Phil

I think that is correct for long haul type work. However I just go in and out at our Yacht Club ramp so I will try to get about 500 Lb. on the tongue. I was hoping that someone would know the measurement from the transom at the waterline to the CG. I could then place the CG just forward of the axles. I am guessing that the CG will be about in line with the rear cabin bulkhead if the fuel tank is mostly empty. Hope someone can help. Maybe a picture of a boat on a trailer will help. Aloha and Thanks
Aloha Phil,
You are probaly about right with your estimate, depending on fuel in the tanks. But somewhere between the front of the engines to the bulkheads, now if you have a full marlin tower or a half tower, that would change things. Hope that helps you.

Phil,
Here's a couple on trailers. Both seem to be pretty well balanced. Richard Eastman & I towed Gerry's, (blue hull), to Miami with his Powerstroke 350 & the guy that delivered Patrick's boat with a GMC 4500 sait it towed easy...
Both have the wheels in just about the same place. I've moved Patrick's boat twice with my dinky little GMC Canyon. I'm guessing the tongue weight to be around 400 - 500lbs.

Patrick
