Ok, I am almost there on the repower. Going to drop it in and then finish up all the odds and ends. Easier that way. Besides I have overstayed my welcome where I am right now.

So here is the question, all of the guages are in, tachs, oil, temp, volt. Cummins guages and I used the old panel. I need suggestions on adding transmission pressure gauges and the best place to mount them. Do I really need them?

yes you need them must read to 400psi . place them along side others. basicly essential for zf unless you want to find out there is a problem when it becomes a disaster!!

tony a little reassurance ; those two oil cooler hoses going to and from gear oil pump . one fitting breaks trans oil pressure common alarm goes off you shut down. a little mess no big deal repair fitting-----no gauge trans wiped out without indication boat losses thrust on that side .trans is fried over a sticking 5/16 brass fitting ----------out $6500.00 ---ouch

I've busted cooler hoses on both of my ZF 220As and they shake pretty good before they run all the way out of oil...no damage either time. I had a slow leak and the gague is good for noticing that tho.

tony i knew a guy with a robins egg blue fbc 31 bertram with 330hp cummins that took apart a pair of zf- 220 irm gears and increase the line pressure to 390lbs then replaced the sae adapter with a steel one in conjuction with a vulcan torsional drive plate . now he shifts ar 900rpm at idle and has tremedous meneverability .the boat planes in 5 seconds from idle----------------now he is a drunk and has secumb to tee-kill-la and has no mermory.
