People.........I'm getting this white smoke from one of my Crusader engines.......does not smell like bad air/gas mix or oil..........it seems like condensation.....could it be a failed riser?......has this dog bitten one of you? and by the way....did you notice the manatee behind it in one of the pictures?

It could also be a bad head gasket. Are they fresh water cooled or raw water? If freshwater cooled, does it smell at all like antifreeze? When were your risers last replaced? 5 years is a good replacement schedule on them.

R:

Raw water cooled. Exactly 5 years since they were replaced. At that time it was in the high $300 low $400's. I do not know now a days. Any idea?

Change those risers and the manifolds NOW! Do not use the steel reinforced gaskets, as they will fail as well. You are overdue for a catastrophic failure with that high salt content.

Is replacement around the low $1,000? For all of them? They are modern risers.

Can't you see the siloutte of the manatee in the second pic?

You guys just need to put on your polarized glasses, HA!

I see his big ol' nasty flatulent silouhette... and I can't stand them things.

Can't stand all the people who start yelling at me like I'm trying to kill a child, when I'm entering a canal @ idle speed, because they happened to see a manatee in the general area an hour ago...
Their biggest cause of mortality is boat (prop) impacts, yet, when you crank up your motors, they come a-running right to the boat...These animals are on a fast trip to the extinction hwy... because of the very same people who claim to love and protect them oh so much ... who feed 'em lettuce, and give fresh water outta a hose at the dockside. They're (manatees) too damn stupid to differentiate between danger and safety. A running motor is now equated to a dinner bell in their little pea brains. Good job tree huggers, another aquatic speed bump in the making.

Thus concludes my rant.

Nah, their titties are actually in at the base of their flippers, in their "armpits"... Attractive mermaids, huh? Complete with pit-tits. Nice.

Thats obviously a dorsal boob Capt.
Or a topside tumor.
Or a prop polisher.
Or a cloud reflection.

Ok now you guys are getting a little carried away. Its hard enough to tell something is back. Now you guys start drawing anatomical pictures.

I am with Charlie, unless you are Huesso who was there, there is no way you tell all that.

Huesso, make sure the oil is not foaming. Foam in the oil means water in the engine. Is it hard to start? That is a sign of water in a cylander.

Just don't ask me how I know.

I agree.....Dudly-do-rights think they help wildlife when they feed and swim with them. Swimming and feeding rays etc. Here in south La they tried a no wake zone [Lafitte] years ago. When nightfall came someone took all the signs down and everyone runs on plain to the gulf now. No manates and if you live on the water you should have your boat tied up to take any kinda wake.
I would absolutely change the risers and manifolds if the manifolds are saltwater cooled. I used Osco brand when i had gassers and was pleased. Made in USA too.
