I just put a Charles on mine so I can not say how good it is but I know a lot of people who swear by Guest.

I boat a xantrex last month, installed it, charged one battery, turned it off, hooked up 2nd and bam, no more charger. So, called xantrex they are trying to tell me I had a "surge" on the dock burned up my charger SO they offer me 30% MSRP so a big F you from xantrex, DONT BUY ONE

Xantrex USED to be the one to buy. I've had zero problems with my True Charge 20 in the 7 years I've had it. But ever since Xantrex bought up Heart, Trace & some other small ones, their reputation has gone way downhill. I've heard many complaints on the True Charge series also. A lot of complaints on Guest also. (I think they might be associated with Rule now). Though initially more expensive, it's been years since I have heard anything negative about Charles.

I used a two bank hand me down ProMariner for three years and was happy. It just stopped working a few months ago. Replaced it with a three bank 20 amp ProMariner. Seems to be fine, although I have added water about once every month or two to the batteries. I am not sure if they should take topping off that much. Usually about 1/4 inch below the plates after several cycles of discharge/charge. Is that normal?
