Our fellow Steward, Harv Friedman, had back surgery recently and is back in the hospital with some complications....he is pissed to say the least. He's in the NYU Center for Joint Diseases, 301 E. 17th St, NYC (Manhattan) The direct line to his room is 212 598 7620. Pick up your phone and give him a buzz...he could use a few laughs. I just spoke with him and he's not a happy camper.

Got home today at 4pm. Did 17 days and I'm glad to be home.
The incision is still draining and they wanted to cut me open again on Tuesday to do a clean out. I managed to prove a few points to all the doctors, and they finally decided to send me home on antibiotics, and keep an eye on the drainage. Funny enough, I got a new roomate last night that had a similar problem after hip replacement and they did a clean out 14 days after his surgery, and he still had drainage issues for another week and a 1/2. I guess I made the right call on this one. Anyway, the left side is pretty much quieted down, but I still have some issues with the major pain location on my right side. Hopefully with rest and therapy, it will subside even more, but this is still a better deal than before I went in.

Good to hear from you!
Fingers are crossed that it all works better then planned.
On a side note, I'll agree with you that sometimes the best thing to do is just get out of the Hospital as fast as you can.

Harv,
Welcome home!! Like Harry, I called yesterday and got no answer; however during previous days I called and got busy signals (you are a very popular man). Anyway, you rest up so you can get back out on your boat in short order. You mean a lot to the home team here on the Board!

Even more good news today.
The visiting nurse came by this morning. After taking down all the information for her files, she removed the bandage to check the drainage problem. Suffice it to say, I feel vindicated. The bandage was totally dry and clean!!!!
Still gonna be a while before I can play with the boats again.
