I picked up a transom baitwell for my new to me B-28. I plan on feeding it water with a raw water washdown pump - I have mounted the "out" behind the port cubby - But before mounting the pump I wanted to ask some opinions - I plan to put a Y fitting off the head water intake - Where to mount the pump?

JeremyD,

Mine is mounted on a thru hull back by the transom, just forward of the bilge pump and on the port side of the centerline. It has a bronze ball valve and I use it for raw water wash and livewell.

I have two washdown pumps under the stairs going to the V berth.

Mine picks up from a thru hull at the transom with a ball valve and the pump is mounted vertically (motor up) under a deck hatch with the output plumbed to a faucet on the panel between the stb. motor box and side panel......B31. Mounting the pump with the motor up goes a long way in keeping a leaky seal from getting water in the motor. All the washdown pumps are pretty much garbage anyway tho....

Mine is plumbed through the starboard water intake for my engines.
There are 2 lines that come off the internal strainer, one for the engine, and one for the washdown.
It is shut off with a ball valve right after the strainer.

UV,
Mounting the pump with the motor up goes a long way in keeping a leaky seal from getting water in the motor.
Thanks UV, makes perfect sense and I will mount mine that way in the boat, when I get to that point.

Mine is on the port bottom aft of bilge pump, just off the keel, 1-1/4" valve with screen pick-up. 3000 GPH Rule feeds 3/4" washdown and T to 2- 40 gallon oval livewells with stainless spigots to control each livewell flow, located behind each engine box. Livewells are fitted with cushions for extra seating, same height as engine box cushions. Also can be used as a 4th bilge pump if need.

Mine is mounted on the cabin bulkhead on the port side under the port engine hatch... motor up. On a through hull fitting with ball valve. Separate inputs with y-valve so pump can be used as fresh water or raw water. Output goes to hose bib fitting on cubby before step-down.

pete it looks like you have a manifold type of pickup.one thru-hole feeds mutible devices with ball vavle on each.this seams to be the current rage for top of line center consoles.i used a 11/2" thru hole and feed generator, washdown and live-well .
