Heat Exchanger question

Am replacing the Heat Exchanger on my 454 Mercruiser and am seeing on-line prices at various sites from $650 to $1,200.
This is a 5" tank. Part # 44446A2.
Any advice on which manufacturers are best? Any to avoid? Old one was San Juan Marine.
Thanks for you help. Can you also make Spring come a little sooner here in the NE?

Stuart,
I can vouch for this company. Have purchased from them several times & they ship quickly & have a good product. My heat exchangers were also for Merc 454s.

I'll add my name to the list of satisfied Lenco customers. Very pleasant folks. They made replacement coolers for my Marine Power 350's and even painted 'em to match the engines.

I was in the advertising business for 43 years, but those testimonials for Lenco are the best kind of advertising you can get. I always told my clients, you can sell a bad product ONCE, the consumer isn't stupid. Sell a good product and support it after the sale and you've got a lifetime customer AND an advertiser for your product at no cost. Walter

lets jump in the arena with pro`s .i gave lenco a heat exchanger with a water outlet facing backward i wanted the outlet reverse 180 degrees .the heat exchanger is brass and 1/2" away are the soldered tubes .i am a new york state certified welder and i tell you this is a job for "top gun school of welding" they did a perfect job and stood behind it 100% ----case closed i don`t even ask "how much" just do it .

Thanks everyone for your input. Seems to be a consensus.
Marty at Lenco has been very helpful.
