That was cool. Seeing a 31 jump off a wave in the air is awsome.

Was that the SS United States in the background at the start of the video?

What was amazing to me was the speed those 50hp Det. diesels were pushing that 31. Seem awlful fast but that was a great video find Walter.

DQ..
Brave Moppie (RIP) was a B
38 "special" hull. Power was twin
550hp DD's.
There are several other Bertrams in the race (mostly 31's) such as :
Blue Moppie
Broad Jumper
Yo Yo (with outdrives)
Paper Tiger
Vivacity
Drone
etc,etc,etc

Buju,
Your right, I'll turn the volume up better next time. He was a little weak saying that first 5 in 550.

Sometimes living here has it's drawbacks!
Buju can you work some magic for a neighbour so I can view the video please, cannot access the hosting site as it is ?

I'll give it a shot Preston, hope it works. I guess thats one drawback of relatively recent independence from the UK (haha) wonder if it works down in the Turks & Caicos?
Brave Moppie (RIP) is currently somewhere between my island & your island. She went down in the 1966 Miami/Nassau race somewhere in the FL Straits. Probably my single favorite vessel of all time.
Another cool tidbit: Ian (username Pacific Marlin) purchased Paper Tiger (B25express #20 or #200, depending on the race year) in neglected condition. He's in the beginning stages of a rebuild and plans to have her done for an appearance/entry in the 50th anniversary Cowes/Torquay. He's asked me to post a few photos of her, which I'll be doing in the original thread, immediately after posing this. Very cool.

As the the T.C.I. they're going through what we went through in the '70's and 80's local governance wise - albeit the U.K. did not want us back..........

I'm not even able to get on veoh.com's home page !
No, I understand that.
But in my
initial reply to you in this thread... (begining with "I'll give it a shot Preston) You don't see a small "video screen" with a head-on shot of a boat hull and an arrow superimposed over it just under my type? Click the arrow and the vid plays.
Do other people have the ability to view it in this thread, or is that just showin up on my computer???
Just when ya think ya figured something out....

Buju:
"No, I was unable to...."
No, I could not watch the video as you had provided the direct link to.......the screen is not displaying on my computer here in the Bahamas as it is yours in the USA as veoh.com have the Bahamas / my IP address blocked,or whatever.......all I see is the black video screen with the > play icon,no boat head-on image - and superimposed over it is this message:
"Veoh is no longer available in BAHAMAS. If you are not in BAHAMAS or think you have received this message in error, please go to veoh.com and report the issue."
Thanks for trying,appreciated.

That was a great video! I think that B38 Brave Moppie had a hull step about 1/3 forward from the transom, or is that something else?

Exhausts on the hull sides Nestor...
There are some stills in the "Rare Bertram Race Boat for sale" thread on the 2nd page which show it clearly. One up by the rubrail, and one further down by the chine.
Love that friggin boat.
