composite windshield

i am up and around so i resumed work on composite windshield installation . the outside is ready for primer and the inside will be gel-cote but not polished instead a matte finish on all fiberglass inside cabin (galley trim & upper surrond panel , dash board , windshield.

i started to walk without a cane so the guys in the yard made a rolling escalator to go get up on the boat .thank you for the compliment on the composite windshield by holmsey installation.i just wanted to give credit to capt. patrick whom gave me the tip of using awlgrip primer 545 and add west marine high density filler . with the feel of ketchup in covers all the lows that you create with expoxy faring compound you can see the blotches of white in the fairing compound .i used a 8" straight edge applicator using the existing raised combing area as on edge and the windshield as the other so the finest product on the outside is a exact match or blend with the windshield to the boat both top and bottom all expoxy . the inside bottom seam i used a autobody supply for the red rubber applicator and the cut it to the contour of the windshield bottom to the boat dashboard.i used quik fair two part expoxy fairing compound over west marine expoxy /high density filler/colloidal silica in addition to 44 1/4" ss lag bolts .the results are the boat deck,windshield,bridge are one piece . you could jump on deck with O flex .a true brick shithouse

no problem dug once you do it the first time you know what to expect ,that windshield does not even come close to fitting i made only one trial fit and thought a new battle plan. the hydralic ram did all the work.just don`t panic at first and start with one lag bolt then bent install next lag bolt and go from there.the finish product will be there for many stewards down the line .alluminum is destine to self destruct down the road no matter what you do.

Nice work Bob...Built like a tank...Been using Capt Pats 545 mix as well to fair my engine beds. Glad to hear your feeling better.
