I have a 79 31 Bertram and I would like to free up some space on the upper bridge. It has an Judson engine sync. on it right now. Would like to get a nice little 3 1/2 guage for the engine synchronizer. Do they make anything like that would flash to tell you they are in sync. that will flush mount? The engine are Merc 454's. Thanks, Mark

I have a 3 1/2"Faria needle type synchro on a 30 foot outboard that has been bulletproof for 12+ years. I have the digital Floscan on my Bertram that works fine, but is not intuitive like the analog needle.
It is #32807 below:

Thanks Pat. I know you like ISSPRO. Do they make one? This is the only Faria instrument I have owned, but it has worked great and matched the look of the boat. Fairly cheap too!!

Rawleigh/Pat,
Does this Faria work with Cummins? Any special items needed?

Dan,
Since the gauge is only monitoring the rpms of each engine they should work for any pair of engines; gas, diesel, or any number of cylinders. As to where the gauge reads those rpms from may differ from engine type to engine type. I'm reasonably sure that you'd use the same sending point as for your electric tachs. You would only have to set the dip stwiches for the number of cylinders you have.

Dan/Pat: They actually are wired into the tach leads right at studs on the tachs on my outboards. It is just a jumper.

Not all sync guages work the same. Read before you buy.
Most gas work off the ignition pulse that diesel doesn't have.
