Uncle Vic, the Judge, & Others

I tried calling Uncle Vic on his cell last night, but no go. Anybody heard from Vic or the Judge (Trey) lately? I know they are dealing with the aftermaths of Hannah and Ike, and they are certainly missed on the Board.

I spoke with both Trey and with Andre two days ago. Trey was in Austin during the storm and is now in the Houston area. His house is standing, his boat and airplane should be OK, but a bunch of other stuff is probably pretty wet.

Andre just got power back, but Vic is still running on diesel power. My guess is that by now, the local cell tower backup generators are out of fuel and down. Andres brother Mooney saw Vic and says he's OK.

Just got my internet cable fixed today (Sunday) and still await my house phone being connected. Went to boat yesterday, having to cut up and pull some 5-6 trees out of the way to get to it. All was well, although the water got the highest ever, she still stayed in the bunks and my boat shed did OK , too. Maybe just in time for the next disturbance in the Caribbean now !
Glad to be back. A hell of a ride. With all the trees down around here, I expect the price of lumber to drop.
I almost feel normal.

Well, eleven days without power certainly was not fun. But I feel for the Ike victims and especially for the poor souls in Cuba, Haiti and other poor islands who were hammered and don't have much support (if any).
Thanks for the kind words and concern.

I'm sorta back.....power came back on at 6:30 pm on 9-11...it had gone off on 9-1 at 1 pm. Ran the big genset non-stop for about 250 hours...fuel burn seems to be about 12-14 gal. per day. My cable and internet came and went and is still coming and went-ing....that's from Gustav...then Ike pushed the crap outta water into the Tickfaw River and area.

We made it to the camp this past weekend and got about 31" of water over the downstairs slab and in the shop vs. 12" in Gustav the prior week.

Between screwing with the tree people, plumbers (yes, a big tree hitting your house will break pipes) the roofers, painters and carpet people (water damage from broken pipes)....oh yeah, the stump grinders, the general labor grosbeaks with rakes and wheelbarrows.

And I have a 'named storm' deductable...bookies win again...
