Eisenhower Blues

Once again my Texas bretheren, we be under the gun.

Lil Bert, Tom P.'s boat the Capt. Morgan, and the related vessel the August Moon are moving to South Shore Harbor for Ike. Hope to have them tucked in this very day to some floating docks.

Any of the crew living in evac. areas are welcome to crash at my place in North West Houston. But, you need to be dog friendly and not object to smoking in the house. Our dog tends to kill cats as well.

We use primarily 5.56, so an ability to operate an AR with iron sites is a plus. Weapons and ammo to be issued 24 hours prior to landfall.

I have a couple extra beds, and bunch of our neighbors have pools, so we will be able to have a bath.

1100 ft high, 250 miles inland, and tooooo dry... I don't expect more than a couple of inches of rain at the most.

Good luck Guys!

The boats are secure, all booze have been removed from the galley, and we kissed them goodbye last night. IF, its the final weekend for the Captain Morgan, I'll relish knowing we tagged two blues last weekend and caught one of the largest fish from Texas this year back in early August.

Beautiful floating docks, Lil Bert is across the canal and a few boats down. she's looking good. The docks have a 15 ft rise available. Unfortunately, the surge in upper Galveston Bay could be 25-27 feet. As in most things in life, I'm just a little short again.

My camp in Tiki Island is virtually empty, all power shut off, If she goes, she goes.

Man, that cat sure looks TERRIFIED!! Anyway, good luck to y'all and please take losts of care, this thing is a monster. Here in Miami, we got just a passing glance (while it destroyed Cuba) and still had some trouble with power and debris flying around.

They've backed off the surge a bit. Although, Ernest's place in Bolivar has a least 6 ft of water under it now, I've got about 7. My camp sits 14 ft above mean high tide. We've got about 9 ft of piling left before the docks are free floating in the hurricane hole according to the marina. Galveston's mayor just said to expect the whole island to be under water for 10-24 hours. This from a lady whom 20 hours ago was confident that the seawall was "plenty tall enough." Its not looking good for the home team right now. But, at least I don't own any cats.-Tom

Why does it not surprise me that the name of Tom's boat is "Captian Morgan?!!"

Ernest- Don't cut your engines loose again this time!!

Good luck guys- we are pulling for you.
