Brew,
Comparing apples to oranges, when my raw water pump on my Merc went a few years back, I just replaced it with a new one. The leak may just be the start of a bigger problem. Best to nip it in the butt.

I would rebuild as long as it was done correctly.
Meaning don't just replace the seal if the shaft has signs of wear, it will be just a matter of time before the pump starts leaking again.

How much does a new pump cost????
I would look at the price difference between a FULL OVERHAUL and a new pump. There is nothing wrong with a rebuilt pump if the housing is in good shape.
What I think that I know about you is that you put a gazillion hours on your Bertram each year..........am I on target there???
Another thought is to install a new pump then rebuild the old one for a spare.........if the $$$$
