Got back after being on a 2 engine and 2 gen survey today. 12 hours total time. Most of that was getting down the new river from Bradfords out to run and back.
Cummins 450hp. Boat sat for last year while trying to sell.
Long story short the jackass broker told my client that everything was fine with the boat. He flew the hull surveyor in from Virginia.
Well the fuel was filthy Bahama fuel, filters hadn't been changed in a couple of years. Engines had 1000 hours, still running original impellers.
Engine wouldn't turn up. Ac's didn't work so I couldn't load the gen sets to test. Stb twin disc leaked like a sive. Port shaft strut was bent to where it took me using a 6' 2x4 on the prop blade to move prop when it was out of water.
Asking price was 450k, boat was advertised as "captain maintained".
It seems the only thing the captain maintained was the toilet paper roll and bottle of lotion next to his bunk.
Why is it boat brokers can't be honest on the condition of the boat? I guess they're hoping to get a dumb ass buyer and survey team.
One funny thing though. Boat was built in 2000 and had a set of the 9000 Floscans. I remarked to my client someone did a good job installing them.
As I was looking thru the log, it was me who installed them back in 2001 right before my heart surgery. I didn't remember. Damn old age.

Bruce - are we here that much better than the average boat people? I'll never forget that night on the dock at Port Eads when you fixed Mr. Pee Wee's a/c on his huge Choy Lee blue boat in a flash, and a couple of days later honed my crappy Sherwood raw water impeller cams to keep them from chewing up the impellers. My Fren' we have learned a lot from you, rant on, and thanks.
