Fiberglass laminating

Post by Harry Babb »

Question to the fiberglass experts..............
When using the biaxial glass to laminate does it matter if the matt side or the woven side goes aganist the hull when applying the first layer????

Then when applying the second layer does it matter which side goes in contact with the previous layer?????

And why????

Harry,

Mat side always down... The mat, which is only 3/4 oz, acts as a filler layer between the woven layer to improve adhesion & help exclude air entrapement. If you want the final top surface to be mat texture, do a last layer in mat only, using 1 1/2 oz.
