Bill,
I have a 12K here in SW Florida and sometimes I think it is too small. I guess if I left the door and hatch closed, it would be alright. I'd be leary of anything less than a 12K down here, but you may be OK where you are at.

Go 16K, don't even think about less - cost is almost the same.

5K...10K...12K...16K, by the time this thread is finished we'll be up to 50K.
I'm with the "bigger is better" crowd. Let's try this approach, what's the biggest one that will fit in your 28?.
Eli from the 25 board swapped his head for a little AC in the V-berth of his 25. He totes a little suitcase sized Honda genset around with him.
Heat index is 105 today down here.

Bill,
Check out George D and George D Jr. AC' s in their 25B's. I think they are around 7000 Btus and you can hang meat. 7000 btus cools the stateroom of my 35B just fine. Bigger is not always when it come to AC. I would get one with reverse heat. I use the heat more then I use the AC when fishing. Are you thinking of putting it under the V or in the hanging locker. Either way it is an easy install with the new self-contained units.
