The head on our B28 is, at best, a stuffy and funny smelling closet. There is a window that can be slid open but I was also considering drilling a hole near the top of the door w/ a hole saw and covering it with a vent cover to encourage air circulation. Then it occured to me that the result could be unpleasant air circulated into the cabin. Maybe it would be better to leave it sealed off (?).

Why would you want to bring that "funny" smell into YOUR cabin? I vote for keeping it sealed up and posting a sign on the door....

Good luck with that. Sorta reminds me of our cat's liter box, or "the grumbie gravel" as I call it.

I keep one of these hanging on a hook just out side the head on "Proud Cut" it doubles as a band mask for bottom cleaning.

Vent into the engine room. Install a fan, and it will suck air from the cabin, and exhaust in the engine room. You could even conceal the vent in the little sliding cabinet thing. You will get some engine room noise though. Might be able to rig it so you can close off the vent when running, and just run the fan periodically at the dock or at idle to circulate the air.

To exhaust into the cabin, use the grills next to the kitchen sink.

Most of that smell - assuming you don't let people pizz on the floor or rub crap on the walls AND don't have a holding tank problem - is likely just stale funky air. Bit a circulation will likely eliminate it.

Maybe some cedar paneling?

If the head is installed properly with a vented loop there should be no foul smell. This is espically inportant if the lectrasan or holding than is above the head and is more inportant to prevent backflow and flooding the boat when the Y valve is in over board position.

It sucks working on a head so do it right once, use the best hose & clamps and you wont have to deal with it for years.

Tip. The Green stuff does not work for odor, maybe for sanitation but not smell. The pink stuff that smells like ginger for RV's works great. I ran out and tried some green stuff and now I have odor again. Vented loops also help and I have one in the system. Dave K
