I heard that creek that you guys in Llano call a river was up. Did it get close to you?

Brian,

No big deal here... At 7pm Tuesday it peeked at 6.4 ft, (10' is base flood stage), and at 7pm this evening, it was at 5 ft. I think it may have gone to 10' or 11' last week, but the real downpour was about 30 miles east, around Marble Falls. The thing that crushed them was 19" of rain hitting in under 5 hours along with the fact that Buchanan is always topped off and the Colorado River was running high too.

I've already recorded just under 47" of rain for the year, (27" avg annual), and everything is pretty soggy around here. It'll probably take a couple of weeks of dry weather just to make it safe to get off the road.

Good thing is that the damned extreme drought is way behind us, at least until next year. Kinda' unusual for the end of the first week of July to be so green and cool. Wild flowers still in full bloom & at 3pm this afternoon the temperature was a scalding 73º...

Patrick
